Shipping has always been a business with a high risk exposure. Safety has absolute priority on board the Rickmers Fleet. This relates to the personal safety of Rickmers seafarers as well as the protection of the assets and the environment. Information on critical operations, risk areas and accidents is translated to initiate training elements, procedural changes and to ensure safe and accident-free operation of our Fleet.

In 2005 we have started a new training program for officers employed on Rickmers vessels including simulator trainings. The target is to improve risk awareness throughout our fleet and the ability to react appropriately in difficult situations.
